I'm 19 years old and whilst my peer group are stumbling into bed at 4am, I'm thinking about getting up and heading off to the ice rink, where I practise for several hours each day. My friends dream of the latest designer gear and trainers, I think in terms of spandex and sequins. I hear people talking of takeways and lager, whilst I indulge in vitamins and protein shakes. My friends (those that can cope with my strange waking hours and sequin obsessions) think I'm mad, I just like to think of myself as dedicated and determined to succeed. I know that without devoting myself to my sport completely, I will never acheive my ambition of ice skating for Team GB in the winter Olympics. I love representing my country and this year have been lucky enough to skate in Germany and Poland as part of the national team. No sport is cheap if you are competing and ice skating is certainly no exception, winning this kind of sponsorship would certainly make a big dent in the ever increasing costs of representing Team GB. I'd also relish the opportunity to take some training advice off the other atheletes. My mum is already working out how much she will save on her shopping bill if she doesn't have to buy me Goodness Shakes each day and I am the first to admit that without her amazing sacrifices over the last few years I would never have lifted that first trophy let alone be where I am now.
I love my sport with a passion and I simply couldn't imagine my life without it and with your help I won't have to.
